Description:A bronze knife from ancient Rome (1st-2nd Century CE) used to sacrifice animals by a Haruspex. A Haruspex was an individual trained to practice the art of divination; whereas questions about the future could be divined by inspecting the entrails of sacrificed animals. 12". Stand NOT included.

Provenance: ex. Toronto, ON collector of ancient bronze; acquired in the early 1990s from the Military Antiques Trading Post previously on O’Connor Drive in Toronto (legally imported). Reviewed in 1990s by the University of Western Ontario - Classics Department (London, ON), who also acquired examples from same collection.

Condition: Wear commensurate with age
